True Love After 40

I love you.  I'm just not "in love" with you. 

This statement makes my hair stand on end.  Who knows what it means?  I have my thoughts which I'll share with you.  Personally, I see this expression as a cop out.  It's something people say without thinking it through, but they believe it explains everything.  It's a "Dear John" statement, a declaration of your "non-love" for someone you have been with a long time, but have since lost that loving feeling for.
